Hi, good morning. Steve Greenhalgh, stuckinatruck.com. Sitting in Bothwell services about a mile South of Glasgow.
In today's video, I'm talking about goal setting, the importance of rewarding yourself for achieving the goal, being held accountable to keeping that goal, and also about our ability to make or have impact, and how we can only change lives around us one at a time, and you've got to start with you.

So please, whatever the question, bring it in. If you don't like it, say so. Let's hear.

All right? enjoy the video.

So, what we're talking about today?
Weight loss and goals. I work with a lovely lady down in Australia, she's just moved from Newcastle down to Tazzy.
Trish, hi, if you watch this. Thanks for everything you do, I really do appreciate all your support.
And we were looking forward to next year, and setting goals and targets of where we want to be, both in business, personal life, and things like that. And with weight,
I don't know if you remember, but I used to have interim goals and final goals, but I always rewarded myself for the next level. And those rewards were Japanese chef's knives, which I absolutely adore.

Reward Yourself

And in all this struggle through COVID, I'd forgotten to put the reward out there with the goal.
I don't think I'm money-orientated in that respect. I don't think it's oh, well you can have a new knife if you hit target
.
I know the reason and I know the importance of hitting target, but if I'm going to make some sacrifices, a reward will make it even more worthwhile.

So while we were going through and all the personal goals, business goals, subscribing numbers, and all that sort of thing, and at the end of the day, we're looking to building an audience to help as many people as possible.
So if you haven't already, I'll put a link under this video, go and Subscribe to the YouTube Channel.
It's not that revelationary, it's just another avenue of stuff that is with the whole Stuck In A Truck …

I don't know what you call it. It's just another part of Stuck In A Truck, Stuck In A Truck YouTube channel, but it's my YouTube channel and it incorporates a bit of business, a bit of mindset, and a bit of health and fitness.

So go and have a look-see. Anyway, I'll dig out a picture of the next Japanese chef's knife that I'm after. Can't get it on Amazon.
Very expensive piece of hammered and folded steel, and I'm really excited about it.
And I have to say, I can feel the difference in my attitude to achieving that goal.

Accountability IS the Difference

And it's as though having the conversation, sharing it with somebody who will hold me to what I've said, that's going to make the difference.
And it's that level of accountability. So if you're struggling with your goals, why not put into the group where you'd like to be in the next three months?
What's your ideal target weight?
And what are you prepared to give up to get there? But when you do get there, how are you going to reward yourself?
Having that conversation in public and sharing that information may just make the difference to whether you achieve it or whether you don't. Now, 2020 is nearly over. It's been an altogether different year, been a very profitable year for many people, certainly been educational, and it's certainly brought into focus things that matter and things that don't, so how do you want to see things change in 2021 for you? What are you going to do differently? How are you going to make an impact on the world? How are you going to change your life?

The Starfish Story

The story of the starfish, you can't change the world, you can't change it overnight, but you can make a difference one person at a time.
And the starfish story is about a businessmen on a tropical island who always goes for morning coffee by walking along the beach.
And after a storm one night, the beach is covered in starfish, thousands and thousands of starfish all above the high watermark.

The businessman's thinking, God, they're all going to die, and it's really sad.
Anyway, he's got a mile and a half to walk, and as he's walking along the beach is literally made of starfish.  In the distance, he can see this boy who's maybe five or six patiently picking up starfish after starfish and flinging them back in the sea.
He approaches him and says, “Son, what are you doing?” and the boy says, “Well, making a difference.” And the businessmen looks down at him and looks around at the beach. He said, “Son, you can't make a difference to this lot.”

Just One At A Time

And the little boy looks him in the eye, bends down, picks up another starfish, flings it into the sea, and he said, “No, but I made a difference to that one.” Made a difference to that one. And the businessman bent down and picked up the starfish, and spent the rest of the day with him throwing starfish back in the sea, making a difference one starfish at a time. So who are you going to make a difference for? You? If you change you, if you change your perspective on the world, the world becomes a better place. That's got a bit tree huggy, hasn't it? Anyway, I will love you and leave you. I'm going to go inside and grab myself either a free coffee or a very expensive cup of hot water withburnt crap in it, to drink. I'll see you all later.

If anything I've said interests you, by all means,
